Volunteers needed!

We were recently contacted about a volunteer opportunity, surveying 5 acres of land near Sherperdsville, KY. If any FOAS members are able to help, please contact Eric Schlarb if you are interested in joining the survey. Read the full details as sent to us via email down below.

Volunteers needed to conduct an archaeological survey of a ca. 5 acre area that will be impacted by the construction of a visitors parking lot at the Active Heroes Retreat near Shepherdsville, Kentucky. The survey will take place Saturday June 25 from 10 AM to 3 PM.

Volunteers from the Lexington area are welcome to meet at the archaeology lab at 1020A Export Street at 8:15 am. Volunteers coming from the Louisville area should meet at the Kroger Parking Lot in Mt Washington at 10:00 AM. Those living in the Frankfort area can meet at the Walmart parking lot 301 Leonardwood Dr, Frankfort, KY 40601 near US 127 in Frankfort at 9:00 am, where transportation will be provided by the National Guard.

The Active Heroes mission is to support U.S. military service members, veterans and their families through physical, educational, and emotional programs providing coping skills in an effort to eliminate suicide. Active Heroes’ vision is to eliminate military/veteran suicide.
