Saturday, July 9, we will have our second annual picnic in Ashland Park on the Clarksville riverfront. We will meet at the shelter house around 2pm, this event will replace our regular meeting. We are asking members to provide either a side or desert, Bob will grill brats and hotdogs.
This is a great opportunity to share items with other members and Anne will have artifacts from a local dig. Last year we had many members of the public stop by to see what we had and to learn about the organization.
We will also be conducting a silent auction as a fundraiser. Fell free to bring something interesting you might have lying around. We are asking that no genuine artifacts be included in the auction. As an organization, we are not permitted to participate in the buying or selling of artifacts.
Please email Christina Pfau if you plan to attend.
FOAS will be conducting a public archaeology weekend on the 18 and 19 of June at the Clark County Museum. The museum property is located at 721 Michigan Ave in downtown Jeffersonville. We will get started around 10 both days and dig until 2 or 4 depending on the weather. Our supplies are limited, if you are able to bring your own that would be great so we will have more for the public. We hope to see you there!
Justin Carlson, a graduate student at the University of Kentucky, will speak at our FOAS meeting this Saturday, June 11, at 2:00. Justin will speak about his exciting research outside of Crump’s Cave in Warren County, KY where he has documented 4 meters of early Native American occupation of the area. Looking forward to hearing more about this!!! Come join us. Public welcome!
We will also be adding quite a few upcoming events in the area to our calendar soon.
