We’ve got a new site up! We’ve created a new website exclusively for sharing our progress for our Projectile Point work. Click on it below and check back later for further updates. We’ll be adding more photos and information as we continue to gather data.
River Park Place Archaeological Project
Our last meeting we had Duane Simpson of Amec tell us about the huge River Park Place archaeological project that occurred along the Ohio River east of downtown Louisville. Duane will spoke on 4000 years of prehistory. A terrific presentation and very informative! Thank you for coming out!
Saturday’s Meeting
February 13, 2-4 offers a variety. Anne Bader will be presenting. She will share the latest in Dr. Chris Hays’s ongoing research into the clay cooking balls found at the Clarksville Site and possible connections with the Poverty Point Site in Louisiana. Fascinating! Anne will also share the presentation she gave in November at a conference in Indianapolis celebrating 20 years of archaeology in Indiana. We also get to view the original Roman coins found years ago at the Falls! If any time remains, we will work on the projectile point guide.
FOAS Journals Available
We’ve added a new Publications section to the website. Now you will be able to download copies of our journals in .PDF form. We’ll be adding more soon. Please note, the most recent issues will not be added to the site just yet, but we do have them and all previous issues available for purchase. We will be adding an online store in the future as well, so stay tuned!
New Features Added!
We’ve added a new option to pay your membership dues online! Dues can now be paid with a debit or credit card through Paypal. You do not need an account with Paypal in order to pay dues in this manner. Click here to see membership pricing options and to become or renew a membership.
We’ve also rescheduled our lab for the Projectile Point project to Feburary 20th. Check the Calendar for details!
Thanks for another great year!
We had a great time at our annual Christmas Luncheon! There, we we thanked Bob and Barb for all their wonderful years of service to the society and discussed or plans for the future. FOAS will be turning 15 in July of next year, and we hope this next year one of our best, which we cannot do without the support and dedication of our members. Thanks to everyone for joining us!
Projectile Point Project
We’ve started our projectile point project last weekend. The goal? to document the point types of the Falls area! Thanks to those who came out to share their collections with us!
New website launched!
it’s been quite some time, but our website has gotten a much needed overhaul! We’ve cleaned up a lot of links, streamlined it and added some new things, such as a gallery and event calendar to help keep everyone up to date with current events. We’re also looking for guest contributors! If you’re a member and would like to contribute to our blog articles, please contact Anne Bader for more information. We hope you enjoy the new site and would love any feedback you may have on it!
